During my first semester of college, I was assigned a project that I personally thought was a huge waste of time. The project? Taking a video once a day, every day for the entire semester and using the app One Second Everyday to compile it all together.
At the time, I had no interest in completing this assignment. It wasn’t until the end of the semester, however, that I realized the value of it all. While a one-second video doesn’t feel like a lot of time, once everything comes together one second feels like a lifetime.
Time moves faster in college years. In a blink of an eye, the semester is already over and all that’s left are the memories. The value of One Second Everyday is that you can revisit these memories. From the smaller parts of your life to the huge milestones, you have total control of what your video is going to be.
The best part of having to do 1SE as an assignment is getting to watch other people’s videos. Every person has their own way of taking their “one second.” Some people use 1SE as a way to make a statement, like commenting on all of the things they waste every day. Other people use it as a way to do something that scares them every day or to track the growth of their children. The possibilities are endless.
I am so lucky to have found 1SE during my first semester of college because now it is an essential part of each semester. Instead of keeping a journal or posting every element of my life on social media I am able to capture the highlights of my day to day life.
While some days are more exciting than others (think a day just walking around campus as compared to going to a concert), 1SE tells your story and is a great reflection of the life you live. When you look back and watch your complied video it is a roller-coaster of emotions. The impact that 1SE has had on me is monumental.
Going into my fourth semester using One Second Everyday, I cannot wait to see how hectic, amazing and exciting Spring 2018 is going to be.
