This weekend, I had the opportunity to watch the final home football game for Georgia Southern. We were playing Troy University. We were predicted to lose pretty easily. It seemed students knew this because the stands weren't as full as you would've expected for the last home game. Obviously, the game didn't go as predicted, we beat Troy which ended up them not being able to clinch the Sun Belt title. I went with my friends and we were able to get a spot in the student section on the 50-yard line.
Because we live in the south, most people take college football extremely serious. So if you ever want to watch the game from the student section of Paulson Stadium, expect a lot of yelling and too much profanity. I feel kind of bad, because at one point during the game a family came down to our row with an elderly grandmother. She didn't seem to mind the energy and language, but they ended up leaving after a while. That's really something you can't change about your average college students, the extremely ability to express themselves in whatever way they see fit.
The weather was probably by the far the worst part of the game. It had gotten cold over the last couple of days, so I assumed that it would be about the same for a day game. The sun was beating down for a majority of the game, and I chose to wear a knitted sweater. Luckily, later on, the weather got better when the wind started up and made it cooler.
Overall, I had a good time at the game. It ended much better than I expected and I got to spend time with my friends and boyfriend watching one of my favorite sports.
