Last semester I was assigned to read a book that had to do with leadership for a program I am in. I went to the library and spent a long time reflecting on what book to pick. I didn't want something that was going to bore me or that everyone else might read. I wanted to pick something different and that is when I saw it: "Life’s Golden Ticket" by Brendon Burchard was the book I picked up, and it was probably one of the better decision I have made this school year. I am going to be honest and tell you that what really drew me to this book was that it had to do with a carnival which I think are pretty cool but once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Now without spoiling the book I am going to tell you why you need to read this book.
Brendon Burchard does a good job at making you think about your own life as you travel along with the main character of the book through this old abandoned amusement park. A main point of my assignment was to pick a book that displayed some kind of leadership aspect. The aspect of leadership seen in the book was inspiring other people. Everything and everyone in the park was responsible for inspiring change in the main character. From the wizard to Larry the lion tamer you learn important lesson from each. The wizard talks about the spell society has cast on us in making us feel like shitty humans. The lion tamer teaches us that we should never turn on back on fear or it will consume us.I was hoping to learn about things I could do in my own life to make a change and I really think the book did an excellent job at teaching me several ways. Aside from the wizard and the lion tamer I think one of the of the most important leadership lesson this book teaches us is that in life we don’t always have to be in the center of the ring, sometimes it is important to let others be there. I think the absolute more important thing I learned from reading this book is that we all have a golden ticket. We have the chance to use it over and over again to unlock an unlimited amount of possibilities. We all have the chance to start over with our golden ticketI would strongly recommend hitting up your local bookstore or going online to find this book. It isn't a long drawn out read and you will be captivated from the first sentence. Who knows, maybe you'll discover a way to use your golden ticket.
