We Are One: What You Need To Know About The IUPUI Jagathon
Jagathon: IUPUI's Dance Marathon

Students at Indiana Universtiy Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) have hearts bigger than their dancing abilities. For the last 15 years, the students attending IUPUI have set aside the possibility of ridicule in order to raise thousands of dollars in efforts to save the lives of children at Riley Hospital for Children. The IUPUI students, faculty and staff are truly devoted to giving their all For The Kids (FTK), no matter the cost. IUPUI will stand for those who cannot stand do to illness. IUPUI will stand to support those who stand for hours saving the lives of children in hospitals. IUPUI will dance to celebrate the life of a child that was saved. IUPUI will not stop supporting children who aren't able to fight alone.

"We stand up for those who can't stand for themselves."

If you ask a student at IUPUI what Jagathon is, they will tell you that Jagathon is IUPUI's dance marathon. If you ask a someone who is a member of the Jagathon team, a team that is made up of over 200 IUPUI students, they will tell you that Jagathon is neither a dance nor a marathon; it is a celebration of life. Jagathon is an annual event held the first weekend in March that lasts 13.1 hours. Each attendant stands and dances the entire time. Attendants of Jagathon listen to the stories of children and families who have experienced the love and care of Riley Hospital for Children. The students that attend Jagathon are able to hug these amazing kids and cry tears of joy with their familys who are able to watch their Riley Kid grow up.

Jagathon is more than a philanthropy.

Jagathon is a 365 day commitment to raising money for the kids. In 2016, the IUPUI Jagathon community revealed a fund raised total over $140,000. During the years that Jagathon has been held, IUPUI students have been able to raise over $410,000. While the IUPUI community is very excited to have raised so much for all of the wonderful families who are touched by Riley Hospital for Children, the IUPUI community knows that they can do more.

Introducing the ONE Campaign

On January 25, 2017 at exactly 1:00 AM, Jagathon at IUPUI launched a new campaign that is more than just a campaign. It's a movement designed to truly unite as one. IUPUI is One Campus. IUPUI is One Community. IUPUI is coming together for One Cause. IUPUI is One Movement that cannot be stopped. By coming together as one, Jagathon has decided remove all of the zeros. By removing all of the zeros, all dancers are required to receive One Donation.

Jagathon is more than just ONE tradition. Jagathon is ONE movement working to better the lives of patients at Riley Hospital. Together, IUPUI will make One big difference.

For more information on Jagathon, visit the Jagathon: IUPUI's Dance Marathon Facebook page or visit Jagathon's website. Thank you.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
