This week I head to Kosovo (known as Serbia to some) along with the rest of my core course. If you haven't heard about the Kosovo war or the conflict in the Balkans during the 1990's you're missing out on an extremely important chunk of history. While we're in Kosovo we'll be visiting monasteries, Kosovo Polje, and with the leader of the AAK (Alliance for the Future of Kosovo). I will also have a small group meeting with the UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency).
Although we're meeting with other amazing people and organizations while we're in Kosovo, I'm most excited for the UNHCR because the refugee crisis is one of the most pressing issues to Europe, and the EU, currently. Although the wars might have ceased for Kosovo over the past few years - the conflict is still very much alive. Here's a recent video for reference.
