What Your On-Campus Starbucks Barista NEEDS You To Know When You Are Ordering Your Drink

Stop with the secret menu drinks.

Guess who recently started working at Starbucks? This girl, that's who! I've been a Starbucks barista for less than a month now, and I already know the tea with annoying customers.

So if you don't want to piss off the barista or receive decaf, here are a few things that you should know.

Don't order secret menu drinks if you don't know the recipes.

We don't know the recipes for unknown drinks, so stop that.

If we're out of something, we're out of something.

Don't expect us to walk all the way to the back and check when I already know that we're out.

Light ice or no ice doesn't mean we'll fill your cup up.

It just means light/no ice in the cup. Stop asking us to fill up your cup.

We hate making Frappucinos.

And if you don't tell us you don't want whipped cream, expect us to put whipped cream on it. If we don't put whipped cream on it, it's because we're out. And again, if we're out, WE ARE OUT.

It takes more than two minutes to complete orders.

Especially when we're busy. The whole, "Excuse me, I have class right now, I need my drink," isn't going to change the fact that there are 20 people ahead of you, so be patient.

We don't always write your names on cups/food orders, so when you hear your drink/food called, just take it.

If you hear your frappe being called, just take it. If you hear "Mocha frappe!" don't go asking the barista, "Oh, is this for Jessica? I ordered the Mocha Frappucino." Just take your drink and go.

Stop asking us what you want to drink, especially when there's a long line behind you.

I don't know what you want to drink. Like, seriously?

Listen for your name.

Take those AirPods out. I don't want to be calling your name five times just for you to walk over five minutes later asking where your drink is. I already called your name 500 times, just get it on time.

When you walk over to the baristas making drinks and say, "Oh, I know that you guys hate when people do this, but can I have water?"

You already know that we hate that. Just go to a water fountain. Or actually wait on the line like everyone else and order your iced water.

 Don't steal drinks.

That's actually so rude. To everyone. Sheesh.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
