We’ve all heard of the saying, “You’re a daddy’s girl” or a “mama’s boy.” There seems to be a negative connotation that goes along with these sayings. So what if a girl loves her dad and would do anything for him? What’s so bad about being a daddy’s girl? Absolutely nothing, that’s what. It’s totally okay, and let me tell you why!
I love spending time with him, there is no crime in that. Some of the best times I can think of are time spent with him. I love my daddy-daughter days and dates. It’s so much fun! And for some reason this qualifies me as a daddy's girl and it's something to be mocked. Well let me tell you, my dad is awesome and amazing (I'm sure all you girls think that same of your dads) and I LOVE spending time with him. That makes me a daddy's girl? I'm totally okay with that. I have fun, so what you think doesn't matter.
I'm not spoiled, but sometimes I get things I want. Everybody does. I can’t just bat my little ole’ eyelashes and daddy will give me whatever I could possibly want. It doesn’t work that way; it never has. Okay, maybe when I was two and adorable, but that’s it. I get what I want sometimes, but so does everyone. Being a daddy's girl doesn't mean you're spoiled. It has absolutely nothing to do with that.
You have a protector and someone on your side. You have someone to protect you or be your shoulder to cry on if needed. You know that he’s always got your back! I can't count the number of times that something has happened and my dad has been there for me. He never had to say a word, juts knowing he was there was perfect.
Being a daddy's girl doesn't mean you love your mom any less. In fact, it is quite possible to be both a daddy’s girl and mommy’s girl at the same time. In some situations, I am closer to my mother and some I am closer to my father. That's just life. I mean, would you really go to your dad for boy advice?
Being a daddy's girl just means you love him. It's nothing more than simply you loving your dad! It means that you are very close to him and that you can rely on him for almost anything. I guess this ties back into the whole, your dad being your protector thing, but it's true that you love him.
So there you have it. Daddy’s girls are not something to be taken as a joke or as a negative stereotype. We love our dads a lot and he loves us. What more could you want?
