The Ohio Renaissance Festival is a 30-acre full day of time traveling amusement! The park contains around 100 shows a day, more than 150 crafts shops and food to die for! The festival runs every weekend beginning September 1st through October 28th in Waynesville, Ohio. Each weekend has a theme like "family and friends," "time travelers," "pirates," "fantasy," "feast of fools," "highland," "barbarians," "romance" and last but not least, "trick or treats"! Come in costume or not, just go and have fun! Below is some photographic evidence of how cool this event is!

1. The entrance

When you first walk into the Renaissance Festival, you will see beautiful chaos erupting. There are plenty of booths that contain maps and signs to direct you where you want to go first. There is also usually a person trying to sell you flowers! ATMs are available throughout the park as well.

2. Views

J. Jones

This is just one of the intensely cool views that I encountered on my walk through the park. To my left, there is the pirate ship ride and tables to sit down and eat at. To the right, there are shops that sell beautiful crafts and food that will legit make you drool. More on that later. ;)

3. Costumes

J. Jones

The weekend I attended was Feast of Fools weekend! This was just one of the most intricately designed costumes that I saw on my journey. Parasols are definitely a good idea if you plan on going to this event. It gets awfully hot, and you'll look fancy as well!

4. Shops

J. Jones

As I mentioned before, there are over 150 shops to browse at this festival. This just happened to my favorite one. I'm a sucker for flower crowns! Some of the things you can buy from these shops throughout the park include knives, crossbows, jewelry, kilts, costumes and more!

5. Food!

J. Jones

I can't even explain how yummy some of the food I've eaten from this festival is, but I'll try. This turkey leg was HUGE. It was coated in some kind of sauce and was so fresh! It was like Thanksgiving Day in my mouth. Cheers to food!

6. Performers

The park is full of people just hanging out and performing for onlookers! These lovely people pictured were singing songs from the Renaissance and doing a wonderful job! The second picture is a group of people about to perform a dance.

7. The Queen!

J. Jones

It wouldn't be the Renaissance era without a queen! This lovely queen walked around the park and attended all of the activities at least once. God save the Queen!

8. Animals

The festival also has animals that can be ridden or just pet. This cutie pie horse is named Superman! He was ridden in the joust and was available for the public to ride afterwards. The camel was also available to ride!

9. Kid's activities

While the Renaissance Festival is completely kid-friendly, there are also kid rides to enjoy. Pictured are my favorites that I remember from childhood including the giant slide, the barrel ride and the catapulting frogs!

10. Jousts!

One of the biggest attractions of the festival is the jousts! Where else could you watch a real-life joust!? That's right. This is a joust with men in suits of armor trying to knock the other rider off with long sticks of metal. How cool right?! Violence!

11. Mudde (Mud) Show

My absolute favorite part of the Renaissance Festival is the Mudde Show! It is quite literally a mud show as you may very well leave this show covered in mud! The actors perform their own quirky versions of Beowulf, Dante's Inferno and the Viking Show! It is impossible not to smile!

I hope that these pictures have enticed you to attend this super fun event! If not, that's okay too! There is so much more to do at this event than just the things I have pictured. These are just some of my favorites! It's definitely worth the trip to Waynesville to make your own memories. I bid thee farewell!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
