Oh, the Middle School Regrets

Looking back at who we were in middle school, we feel blessed that we are no longer as dreadfully weird as we used to be in the past. Nothing screams early teenage years like…

  1. Rainbow colored braces- Don’t deny it. Everyone who had braces had a mouthful of rainbows. You didn’t just get red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple… You made sure that you had the sparkly colors too. The more colors, the better.
  2. Photobooth- What was a hangout without a photoshoot on your friends brand new 13 inch Macbook pro that they got for their Bat Mitzvah. Let’s be real, did you even really hang out if you didn’t take 437 pictures with every filter your Mac had to offer!
  3. Picnik- Ahhh, the 7th grades mock Photoshops where we quoted only the funniest inside jokes and cliche captions. Don’t forget about the initials of you and all your BFFS! <3 :) And what other pictures would you use besides the ones you took on Photobooth?!
  4. Liking EVERYTHING on Facebook- It’s a competition, you know. The more likes you had, the better. I mean, why wouldn’t you like the page, “That’s right. When I was 12, I watched PG-13 movies. REBEL.”
  5. Juicy Couture- Tracksuits, handbags, watches, perfume… You had to have it all.
  6. Blackberry- BBM me! Add my pin: WH47TH3H3LL
  7. Changing Your Facebook Status- You needed to inform all of your Facebook friends about every little thing that happened in your life… And every status you posted ended in htc:* or text~~
  8. Changing Facebook Profile Pictures- After taking the perfect picture on Photobooth and being edited to the T on Picnik, you had to make sure you gave your BFFLS props for choosing the picture, liking the picture, and just being super cool!
  9. Makeup- When Mommy finally says you can wear eyeliner to school, you take that as, “YEAH, let’s draw a black line in my eye!” You also probably stab yourself a few times during the process.
  10. Being Addicted to Facebook Games- You had the biggest Farm on Farmville, you always sent requests on Mall World, and you had the cutest fish on Happy Aquarium.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
