Official Ranking of the Super Bowl 2015 Commercials

If you are like me, you didn't watch the Super Bowl for the football. You watched it with high hopes of the infamous commercials in between the game, plus Katy Perry’s halftime performance. With much anticipation for the commercials, I was sadly disappointed. There were a few funny ads that had me going, but it seemed like the theme for this year was to see how sad the ad companies can make America feel. One example that should automatically pop into your head was Nationwide’s “Make Safe Happen.” If you don’t know what I am referring to, Nationwide used its Super Bowl time to make people forget about the game and, instead, set their attention on this little boy who died. Thank goodness there were a few commercials that put a smile on our faces. Even though there went many, here were some of the best Super Bowl 2015 Commercials.

1. Doritos, "Middle Seat."

You can always count on Doritos to keep the humor in its Super Bowl commercials. Everyone knows what it's like to protect an empty seat next to you. This guy took his guard dog position to a whole new level, until he saw the one, or who he thought was the one.

2. Budweiser, "Lost Dog."

I literally can't! Everyone who watched the game should have guessed that this commercial would make the list. It combines everything you would want to watch -- an adorable yellow lab puppy, the popular Clydesdales, the great rendition of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," adventure and a good looking farmer. Budweiser sure knows how to play with its audiences emotions.

3. Clash of Clans, "Revenge."

I am sad to say that I use to enjoy playing Clash of Clans, so this commercial made me laugh extra hard. It starts off with somewhat light, upbeat music. Then everything changes once the unknown player loses. The music gets dark, and the camera pans out to none other than Liam Neeson. Neeson gets his Taken voice on and begins his famous threatening, I know I wouldn't want to be BigBuffetBoy85.

4. Nationwide, "Invisible."

I didn't really know if I should feel bad for Mindy or be jealous. I mean she did get a lot of free stuff, and she almost got to kiss Matt Damon, which is worth being jealous over. At least Nationwide steered away from dead children for this commercial.

5. Mophie, "All-Powerless."

This commercial had me confused, at first. Fish were falling from the sky, dogs were walking their owners, so much confusion was happening in the small span of one minute. Then Mophie brings out the laughs at the end of the commercial. #Staypowerful

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
