Odyssey Should Allow Writers To Go Back And Fix Typos

No writer likes to make a grammatical error.

Like most writers, I hate it when I make an error with my grammar. However, it irritates me more on Odyssey because I can't go back and fix that error or typo. Yet, I can go back to change the title or image of the article if I wanted to.

Usually, I am a grammar nazi and always end up correcting other people. Be that as it may, I make a few mistakes from time to time. When you're a college student, you get caught up in other things and by the end of the week, you feel mentally exhausted.

That's why I never start typing my new article for Odyssey until Friday night or Saturday morning because I don't always have time to work on it during the weekdays. When I finish writing an article, I look it over as much as I can just to check and be sure I have no typos.

However, sometimes I still miss at least one or two typos and the editors never notice it or just don't have time to change it themselves. I get that they are busy, too, but I would appreciate it if the higher up power, of Odyssey, would allow the writers to re-edit or take another look at their articles in the future in case they want to go back and fix those grammatical errors.

In high school and college, English has always been one of my favorite classes. I have always been good at English, as well as writing papers. So, whenever I make a mistake I feel like I just got smacked in the face.

No one is perfect, though, are they? Mistakes do help build our character, that's one good them about them! Other than that they can sometimes be annoying.

In my opinion, typos can ruin the moment. When you're talented at something such as creating stories and there's a slight error, it kind of defeats the whole purpose that you were trying to get through.

An American essayist and reporter, Anne Fadiman, once said, "I can imagine a few worse fates than walking around for the rest of one's life wearing a typo."

Perhaps what Fadiman is trying to say is that young writers should not worry about the mistakes that they sometimes make because they are still growing and learning. They are learning how to better themselves, as well as their writing skills.

Starting by moving on from their past. However, it still wouldn't hurt to change a few typos. Again, it would be nice if Odyssey would allow the writers to be able to go back and fix their mistakes.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
