As everyone starts settling into their class schedule for the semester, many things start happening around campus.
Freshmen constantly struggle to find their classes. Sophomores give advice to freshman, thinking that their one year of experience makes them experts. Juniors start their emphasis areas of study. Seniors wonder where the time went as they start to prepare for graduation.
Although there are many differences between students of all ages and majors, there is one element of our education that unites us all: our hatred of Mizzou Wireless.
MU’s
wireless network, without question, will fail to work on many occasions over the
course of the semester, and the rest of your time at Mizzou.
Many students have already experienced these problems in the first few weeks of
the semester, myself included. If you look on social media, like Twitter or
Yik Yak, it won’t be long before you come across a post or tweet that
states how terrible Mizzou Wireless is.
MU Division of IT announced that it
has had multiple problems with the network and the wireless connection, thus far
this semester, according to their Twitter account (@MUdoIT). Many students have
decided to voice their negative opinions of the university’s internet, and the
IT Department has done its best to kindly respond to the criticism. Members of the campus tech staff do their best, on the daily, to respond and give
feedback to people who talk about Mizzou Wireless on Twitter. They are kind,
courteous and often apologetic to their Twitter followers, as long as their
followers are courteous to them, in return.
Just remember, whenever you’re
stressed out and yelling at your computer for having no wi-fi, you’re not the
only one who is having a rough day. But just think -- you could be the stressed out IT guy whose job is to fix the Internet while dealing with angry people, like you, on
Twitter.
