When a relationship ends on bad terms it results in people doing crazy or, let's say, odd things. Whether a girl eats every piece of chocolate in sight and does not leave her room for a month, or a guy becomes a stalker -- a lot of the behaviors are common forms of recovery. I decided to combine the most common and strangest things I have seen heard and experienced people doing. So here are the odd things people do after a break up.
Stalking on social media. It is weird that after a break up, your ex's social media pages are visited just as much as your own. Who are they talking to now? Is that girl their new girlfriend? On the receiving end, some people may just delete the other from all social media. This forces their ex to find new means of cyber stalking you, such as using random sites such as LinkedIn. Who does that?
Spreading rumors to justify the break up. Contrary to popular belief, just because they broke up with you, it does not mean they cheated on you, realized they are gay or have been giving sexual favors for drugs, so you probably should not tell people that.
Trying to hook up with or date your ex's friends. Going after someone's friend might even be worse than trying to get your ex back. Why? Don't you think their friends have heard all about you? Usually, we complain to our friends about the bad things our other half does -- not the good. According to them, you are worse than the scum on our shoes and their friends probably don't want anything to do with you, either.
Making ridiculous requests. It really takes half a brain for someone to request these things. Can we still have benefits when we break up? Do you and your new boyfriend want to go on a double date sometime with me and the girl I cheated on you with? Can my new girlfriend borrow your tent? Let's get back together!
Sending pointless things to you or your friends. Sometimes, they send a box full of your bobby pins, pictures of them and their new girlfriend, or Snapchats of the old clothes you left at their house to your friends, with the caption "lol." Please just don't contact us at all.
Driving by their house on several occasions. I understand that you really want to know if they are home, whose car is in the driveway, or driving past it is "on the way," but it is really obvious when it becomes a daily thing, or they live on a private dead end road.
Confronting your ex's new boyfriend or girlfriend. Seeing your ex with someone else can pull on the heart strings, but try your best to avoid screaming at their new bae, pulling them out of the car, or making yourself look crazy.
Trashing their car. Vandalism is never the answer, but how many times have you seen or heard of people messing with their ex's car, or even done it yourself? I blame Carrie Underwood for making it popular. Whether you are throwing trash on their car or dumping piles of your old bras on their cars, let's just not.
Making up a more appropriate name for them. Sometimes, calling your ex-girlfriend Trashley, instead of Ashley, or referring to them as Voldemort makes talking about the break up just a little bit easier.
Excessive texting or calling. Contacting your ex every day after a break up is not healthy, unless they respond positively and don't threaten to call the police. If they say things like, "I hate you, don't talk to me," or "I'm blocking your phone number," you should probably stop.
Calling your family members or friends to complain about you. One thing that a lot of people forget after a break up is that your ex's family and friends will more than likely take their side after the break up, not yours. Therefore, calling their mom to complain about her daughter really is not getting you anywhere good.
Changing your appearance just to spite them. Your ex hated when you grew out your facial hair or wore that short skirt that made everyone stare, so you refrained from doing these things to make them happy. Once you break up, you do all of the things they hate. Although, growing a beard your ex claimed made you look like a lumberjack, and then being a lumberjack for Halloween four months later, kind of makes people think you still care.
Starting a new relationship with Jack Daniels. Although alcohol is not the solution to any problem it sure makes you forget the question. People take their new-found freedom and drown it in pools of whiskey and bad decisions, basically becoming the definition of black out.
Celebrating your new single life by being overly friendly. After being tied up to your ex for so long, some people take it upon themselves to make up for lost time.
After a break up we cope in our own ways. Just remember, the person who takes the time to behave oddly probably cares more about the fall out. You have surely heard the theory that the person who cares less in the relationship "wins."
