We all know them. Even if you don't like them, you know them, the biggest boy band in history: One Direction! My three best friends at the time, Zoe, Megan, Olivia, and I were in love with One Direction and it seemed that everything we did revolved around them. I know that's sad, but it's true. However, I also know that we were not the only ones in that state of mind. I know One Direction affected multiple people, broke records and have even been compared to The Beatles. To all the girls who hearts were stolen by One Direction, this is for you.
You know their first, last, maybe even middle names...Oh, and you know the names of their family members.
And you get overly annoyed when someone refers to Louis as Lewis or Niall as Neil. My brother does it just to annoy me, and sadly it works.
You shipped the Harry and Louis bromance.
I want someone to look at me the way they look at each other.
You know all of their songs as well as the ones they cover.
One night Olivia and I spent two hours pretending we were them and performed all of their songs from their "Up All Night" album. She pretended to be Harry and I pretended to be Louis. My mom thought it was cute, but I'm pretty sure anyone else would see it as pathetic.
You can distinguish between who is singing at each part in their songs.
It's not even a challenge.
You watched all of the "Boys on the Stairs" videos and interviews on them...multiple times.
I was infatuated with their videos from their "X Factor" days and would spend hours watching them. When I get sad or too lazy to study, my roommate tells me to watch a One Direction interview or music video to brighten my mood. One time I came home from school and my mom was watching 1D interviews on the couch. She's such a cute 1D-Mom!
You definitely had/have a favorite.
In my phone Olivia's number was saved as "Harry" and in her phone my number was saved as "Louis" in honor of our favorites. We also wanted people to possibly think that we were texting One Direction. Sadly, no one ever thought that. Olivia loved Harry so much that she refused to get a white car because Harry had previously stated that he did not like them. My non-directioner friends used to ask me and my directioner friends which our favorites were and we would respond with, "That's like asking me to pick a favorite child."Even so, we all had our favorites and called dibs on them as if we actually had a chance with them. Oh, and we totally thought we had a chance with them. I thoroughly believed that they would follow me on Twitter and would one day love me as much as I loved them. I'm sorry to inform my naive self that that never happened.
You referred to their younger fans as "teeny-boppers."
The younger girls are probably the ones who had a right to be screaming and crying over them, but yet it was me and my 16-year-old friends who acted like they were ours and no one else had a right to them. Olivia and I even dedicated a shrine to them that was 12-feet tall and was covered with everything 1D.
You own an exorbitant amount of their merchandise.
My friends and I went to the 1D World store in Dallas when it was open for a limited time. At said store, we spent $40 on baseball tees that said "1D loves me". I'm not ashamed. OK, maybe I'm ashamed a little. My friends and I even went to get Yorkshire tea because it is Louis' favorite. I owned a bottle of 1D perfume and other random merchandise. Megan and Zoe worked at Justice during high school, so Olivia and I went to visit them at work. To our pleasure, Justice had One Direction socks that we most certainly purchased and still wear to this day. Each pair of socks had a different member's face on the front. Now, the Zayn socks are vintage.

All of your friends and family knew your love for 1D.
Everyone was aware of my sick obsession and they would randomly give me locker stickers, folders, and phone cases with One Direction's faces on them. Thank you to all of you who fueled my obsession. During dance practice, people would turn to me when a One Direction song came on, and yes, I was singing along every time.
You saw their movie.
My brother even went to the movie theater to buy a ticket for me while I was at school so it would not sell out before I could get one. Thanks, bud!
After your boyfriend and you broke up, you played "Love You Goodbye".
Yes, I really did play that song. That may seem heartless, but it was a friendly break-up and we were laughing, so please don't judge me.
You went to many of their concerts and screamed through every second of it.
Zoe, Megan, Olivia and I spent every weekend for a month at Starbucks when their concerts were released in hopes of getting VIP tickets. Don't worry, we got them. However, before they released their Dallas date, we had already bought tickets to their concert in Michigan. No biggie... I just went to both! That's right, I went to the same exact concert within ten days of each other.
You met them and it was the highlight of your year.
Zoe, Megan, Olivia and I participated in the "Bring 1D to Dallas" challenge and remade the cover of their album, remade their music video, and so much more in the hopes of them returning to Dallas. Dallas didn't win that year, but they did the year before and my supportive mother stayed with us as we slept on the concrete outside of the RoughRider stadium so we could meet our "future husbands". We literally resorted to sleeping on the streets for them.

You still are not OK with the fact that they are "taking a break."
One time I even cried to a One Direction song because I was so thankful for all the memories I had with my friends while we obsessed over them. I know obsessions are not healthy, and clearly I have proved that, but they are entertaining.
