Nursing School According To Michael Scott

I am currently in nursing school, and believe me, it is as hard as they say it is, if not harder. It is hard, stressful, time-consuming, and annoying most of the time, but I am so thankful for the opportunity I've been blessed with. Michael Scott from "The Office" can tell you exactly how nursing school is. It is rough, but at the end of the day, I am just glad to be able to help people. Here is a long list of Michael Scott showing how a nursing student might feel during nursing school.

When I am sitting in class trying to learn about every single disease process and just had to pull an all-nighter for the test I had that day:

When I come into class and hear how much more everyone studied compared to myself:

When I open the test to see that most of the questions are "select all that apply" questions, and finally, after the fifteenth one:

When I make an A on the test:

After a long day of school, clinical, and studying:

My family has to keep telling me this:

After a messy day in clinical:

During clinicals:

The face I make 10 times a day during clinical (which I try to only do in my mind):

When I get home from clinical and am really hungry:

After I've studied for a test for the past week and still can't recall anything I've read, after my two days of clinical were disastrous, after I had to somehow write a paper in the dreaded APA format, when I get home to a messy room, and when I still have to study more, I have to encourage myself by chanting aloud:

The morning before a test day, or any other day in nursing school:

Every day in clinical with a patient:

When my patient asks me a question, my answer is usually:

Preparing myself for clinical each time:

After our teacher taught us a new skill to practice in the lab and after we get checked off, we are released to do it in real life to real patients during clinical:

When I am about done mentally with the nursing school semester, and we still have eight more weeks and 16 more days of clinical:

After I cry a little bit from the stress, I run to the couch and turn on the TV:

At the end of the day, I remind myself:

At the end of the semester, finally:

Now you know a little bit about a nursing student's life. "The Office" is another one of those shows that makes me laugh in the midst of the craziness of nursing school. When I ever have down time, which is sadly pretty rare, I'll turn this show on and laugh my head off. It is good therapy, believe me. You have to make time to enjoy yourself when you're under loads of stress. Now that you've read my article, when someone talks about nursing school, you can say that you read an article about it. You can tell that person what I talked about, and then you can say, "That's what she said!"

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
