To My No. 1 Hometown Restaurant

First of all, thank you. When I left for college, I knew you would be on the top of my things I'll miss the most list. I truly remember thinking, There is no possible way that my dining hall will have food this good. And boy, was I right. No dining hall in America can even come close in comparison to your delicacies.

Thank you for being a constant in my life. Thank you for always making me a good sandwich or salad, and thank you for always greeting me with a smile. You are the last place I went before I left for school and the first place I went when I came back.

You may just be a small restaurant in an even smaller town, but I'm proud that you're our hidden gem. You, in a way, bring our tight-knit community even closer. When I open up your doors I see it all — toddlers, elders, families, friends and sometimes the occasional pet (although that's not allowed).

You make home feel like home. You can always expect to be greeted by a familiar face, whether you're just walking in, ordering your food, finding your table or walking out the door. You are a place that I can never walk into without running into someone I know. That's both a bit of a blessing and a curse depending on my mood (and the people inside).

You're the place where I genuinely like to spend all of my money. Hungry? Go eat. Bored? Go eat. Looking for a meeting spot with friends? Go eat. I may be poor because of you, but I will never change my ways.

You're the reason I sometimes know if my friends are alive or not. They may not contact me for days, weeks, or even months, but I can always count on them to send an artsy snapchat of one of your sandwiches. And you know exactly what sandwich I'm talking about.

Your menu never fails to amaze me, and I am overwhelmed each and every time I go in for a quick bite to eat. I manage to stop by at least once a week during the summer and always annoy customers behind me by staring in awe at the menu even though I know i'm going to stick with my usual. That's just the beauty of it though: my usual is so good I could order it every time I'm there for the rest of my time in this small town.

Thank you for being there as soon as I come home. Thank you for not letting the fame get to your prices. Thank you for staying humble. Thank you for consistently creating delicious and unique sandwiches exactly the way your customers want them. I miss you when I'm gone, but you make coming home that much better.

Sincerely,
Your Biggest Fan

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
