For some, going to the airport is dreadful. Hours spent packing your suitcase, driving to the airport, finding a parking spot, waiting through security, and the long, crowded flight. I get it, it can be overwhelming.
But, while others seem to cry out in agony, I am simply in awe.
The airport brings pure joy to my heart. Not the kind of joy you get when your favorite show comes on, but the kind you get when you got a good night's rest and are running late to class but still get a first level parking spot in the busiest garage on campus kind of pure joy.
I often include 'the airport' into my own version of the "These are a few of my favorite things" song from the Sound of Music. The airport just has so many wonderful aspects to it.
I'll just name a few examples:
1. What other place allows you to select an exact location to travel to with virtually no effort?
2. How often do you get to really people-watch when there are so many different faces in vast amounts?
3. It is where people are brought home together, meeting for the first time, reconnecting friendships, welcoming home loved ones, or seeking adventure in a new place.
4. The wonder and amazement of watching airplanes take off and land safely.
5. Airport shopping is the greatest! Each airport has something different to offer to add to your collection of traveling keepsakes.
I just cannot express enough the happiness that being at the airport gives me. It sends tingles through my body when a friend asks for me to tag along to scoop up someone flying into town. Sometimes I even pack a little bag just incase there's an open seat on standby to anywhere really. I just love the adventure and excitement that happens at the airport, the thrill of journeying to new places, and the feeling of being free because, realistically, you will never see any of those people ever again.
