When's the last time you just stopped whatever you were doing and looked around and taken in the trees or the flowers or the people you are with? I feel like as college students, we are always so concentrated on our busy schedules with school work, possibly a job, extracurriculars, etc. It can be very hard to set aside time to just be still and appreciate everything you have.
Most of our time in college is spent in the classroom or with our friends or maybe working at a local restaurant in the town our college is. All of these things are really good to have in our lives and it's super good to have a schedule to be able to follow. I personally love being able to wake up early and get a lot done in one day. Feeling super accomplished is one of the best feelings ever.
Although I love being able to have the feeling that I got a lot done in a day or a week or even a whole month, I usually find myself every once in awhile realizing that I need to take time to just be able to be still with myself and just go on a walk. Typically I walk around campus with my headphones in because I love being able to listen to music while going to class or to meet up with a friend. But most of the time while having my headphones in, I usually keep my head down and I never look up. I never look up at everything around me. I never look at all of the beautiful trees and flowers on campus. I never look at all the people around me and I never take anything in.
One thing to recommend to people for being able to notice the little things is just making free time to be able to go on a walk/run or just have time to be able to go outside. I have noticed recently that most of the time when I am outside I tend to notice little things around my campus that I normally don't see or recognize. It makes the day a lot more enjoyable when you can take in your surroundings and be thankful for it.
