I am a self-professed dog person and proud of it. I have pictures of my dogs everywhere. In my room, on my phone— and I want to show them to any person that has even a small interest.
Then it becomes a trap. They think they’re only going to have to look at one picture, but no. I have more photos than I can count, and chances are, I want them to look at every single one. Because they are definitely all different!
Regardless, I love my dogs and can’t imagine life without them. I think most people that really love their dogs have a desire to show them off. After all, they are our pride and joy.
But really, there is nothing better than a loyal dog.
Every time I go home, my dog cries. I walk through the door, drop my stuff, and he comes running towards me, his tail wagging a million miles a minute. He gets what I imagine to be a smile on his face, and begins to cry.
The entire time I am home he follows me around. It makes me think he’s scared I’m going to leave again. Every time the suitcase comes out he becomes sad, and starts laying by it like he doesn’t want me to forget him.
I might be reading into it, but still. How can this dog never forget who I am. It’s no secret that some dogs (especially mine) aren’t always the smartest. They eat plastic bags and try to hop fences they can never get over, but they never forget the people they love.
Their loyalty is unmatched by any human that I have ever met.
A dogs reckless abandon for life can be inspiring. No joy is too small to elicit an extreme amount of happiness. A walk to the park, a small treat— they think it is the best thing ever.
Anytime that they get to be with the people they love is an amazing oppourtunity. An invitation to sit next to you on the couch may as well be the winning lottery ticket.
I think that humans love dogs so much because it feels good to be considered the most important person in the room. We, as humans, love when we are the main object of admiration. Dogs never fail to do that for us.
I love my dogs more than anything, and the worst thing about college is that they aren’t here with me. There is nothing better than a dog’s slobbery kiss as a reminder that everything is going to be just fine at the end of a rough day.
When I go home, I cherish every second with them. They have the ability to make us feel like a million bucks on our worst day. All it takes is a look into their big, droopy eyes and you can’t help but smile.
I’m thankful that we live in a world that has dogs. I can’t imagine a life that didn’t involve their unconditional love.
