A Note To My 4-Eyed Friends

Where are my friends who wear glasses?

As fellow college students, I am certain that we all can relate on a number of issues. Issues from remaining up WAY past your set bedtime to cram for an exam, forgetting that you have an assignment due for a class that you have an hour (Mom, pay no attention to that one) sleeping past your alarm and feeling your heart rate increase to near uncontrollable levels, the list goes on and on...

However, this time I would like to address a more specific crowd, those who wear glasses. Just the other day, while in class, I took a brief glance around the room and I realized that I was one of the very few students who wore glasses. I am not sure if this is just something that I do in class, but I enjoy looking around the room to gain a great sense of my surroundings. Because I was one of the very few students in my class, who were not blessed with perfect 20/20 vision, I began to wonder if my fellow four-eyed friends share some of my day-to-day struggles.

1. Forgetting your glasses

I can list a number of times, that I have left my glasses behind. Sometimes, while in class, I feverishly search my backpack for my glasses, hoping that I did not leave them behind somewhere. I am certain that those who wear glasses will completely agree with me, when I say that it is incredibly frustrating when in class and experiencing great diffiuclty viewing the lecture notes, only to realize that you have left your glasses behind.

2. People asking to touch/"see" your glasses

Alright, I do enjoy people. However, whenever someone ask to "see" my glasses, for some reason, something about that drives me insane. I am not wearing my glasses for fashion or for fun. I am wearing my glasses so that I can see. By you "seeing" my glasses, (you see with your eyes, not with your hands) you are leaving my blind for the moment and that just is not cool.

3. Lastly..

One last thing, that I am certain that my fellow glasses-wearers will be able to relate to. Is it not the most bothersome thing when your glasses become unbelievably fogged up from an intensely warm room or a wickedly rainy day. No..do not worry, Mother Nature, when I fall over or walk into a telephone pole because you have decided to bestow this weather conditions upon us all, that are not conducive to me and my glasses, I am sure it will provide a great laugh to whoever is around. :)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
