Over the years, I have met incredibly talented people. Varying from artists to musicians and it's amazing to see so many talented people work so hard to follow their dreams. The reason I am saying this is because over the summer of 2015, I came across one of my favorite actor's, Joseph Gordon Levitt's, production company called HitRecord which has been around for a couple years now.
For any of you who have seen Joseph in interviews, he always wears a red button pin that symbolizes the record company. I had no idea what the company was about until I watched his introduction video to see the meaning behind HitRecord. I thought originally it was only for artists and actors, but when I actually watched his welcoming introduction video.
I learned that everyone can join this production company and it is for artists all around the world who want to collaborate their ideas with other people as well. This gives people who don't think they have any chance to get their art out there, to actually do it. Whether it's a drawing, a writing sample, musics, or even just an opinion you have based on a certain subject, anyone can provide their own ideas to this company. This gives so many people out there the opportunity to share their art with the world.
It can be difficult to get into the Hollywood industry and people could lose motivation trying to follow their dreams of being part of the industry themselves. There are many talented people around the world - and as someone who enjoys drawing myself, I think that this is an amazing opportunity for people to get their ideas and thoughts out into the world and welcome others to join as well. Whether it's a tiny sketch or even just a small thought, it can go a long way. HitRecord also has its own TV show in which the company can use your work and put it in one of the episodes they air. Not only are you able to contribute your work to the company, you can also get paid for it if they actually use it. One year, Joseph himself sent out about $50,000 in checks to those who had contributed that year.
This may seem like I am advertising for the company, but it is honestly just me trying to spread an idea out to those who feel like they don't have a chance to get their work out into the open. I learned that there are thousands of members, and I have recently joined myself and love seeing the many different contributions people have made.
