1 John 2:15-17: Do
not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the
world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the
world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for
everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These
are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is
fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who
does what pleases God will live forever.
This world is so full of itself. To be important is to have a status liked, or to get the perfect selfie. This world says your outward self is so important, at least that's what most people would say. You have teens committing suicide because they don't see their own value. You have girls crying themselves to sleep over another broken heart. Is this really what's important? Is this what society says is ok? I hope not. This world is empty and will never satisfy the longing of any person's heart. This world will not be forever-- it is only temporary.
Now God he says, "Come to me with a child-like faith. Come to me all who are weary and burdened." He sent this guy named Jesus to us to do some crazy awesome miracles. He also hung out with some of the worst people of his time. Matthew was a tax collector, one of the most unpopular professions of his day, and he stood up and followed Jesus. However, following Jesus is so much more than finding worth. It seems every human is constantly trying to fill their void with money, drugs, pornography, merchandise, all things that are man made. Jesus is the only one who can satisfy that void. Through him I am not of this world, but belong to the kingdom of heavan.
