There is something special about moving into your "home away from home." Walking into your dorm room for the first time is magical and exciting but then comes the goodbyes to your family after they broke a sweat lofting your bed, and then unlofting it.

It was difficult not to question how in the world you are going to survive without your parents but then you hangout with your roommates for the first time in a new place and they instantly become your security blanket.

Everyone always says "time flies when you're having fun" and in this case, it was proven true. The beginning of the first semester was crazy because you are given so much freedom all at once, it was hard not to abuse it.

In the blink of an eye, it was Thanksgiving break. You are trying to balance your high school friends and your new college friends while you're at home for the first time since August. Being at home was refreshing but within the first few days, you are ready to head back to your new "humble abode."

The next thing you know, it's winter break and you are finally done with all your finals. You are back home again with all your family and friends but after being home for over a month, it was time to go back.

Second semester starts and you are excited for what's to come. Basketball season, formals, and all new classes are starting and it feels like a new era. You are back with your roommates having the time of your life and making so many more memories. It's hard to believe your first semester of college has already flown by.

Spring break is right around the corner and you are packing for your destination with all your college friends. When you get back you suddenly realize there are only six more weeks until you move out of the place you have lived for the past 8 months.

Yes, the dorm rooms are disgusting and most likely have mold growing in several places but it isn't the building itself that is "homey," it's the people inside. I will never forget all the friendships I have made and memories that will stick with me forever.

From watching Netflix in bed for hours to cramming for that mass comm test til 3 AM, you always loved your dorm room because it was your first place away from home.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
