Binge watching "Orange is the New Black" is a fundamental part of a Netflix user's summer. Everyone has a favorite, and everyone hates Piper; that's just how it is. After several agonizing months, finally the day arrives. We treasure this beautiful moment and belt the final lyrics to "You've Got Time" as the intro ends and the sound of cell doors slam, letting us know the episode is ready for our undivided attention. This season was an emotional roller coaster to say the least, involving: shocking returns, a jaw dropping cliffhanger, and an unexpected death. Here are some of the 'feels,' thoughts, and reactions we all had while binge-watching this season: (SPOILERS AHEAD!)
1. When Lolly kills Cubra's hit man.
I don't know about anyone else, but my immediate reaction was, "She told you Piper!!" and then of course, "Oh my goodness, wow, Lolly just killed that man with only her foot?!" Either way, go Lolly for saving Vause's life.
2. The return of Nicky.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Nicky's return from Max was one of the highlights of the season. She always manages to keep it real and at times is the comic relief that reminds us this show is only part drama and actually sometimes comedic.
3. When you realize that Nicky is still struggling with drug addiction despite her efforts.
What?! You can't do this to us, Red, or yourself! Even though we know that it's going to be a long battle for her to get clean, we find comfort in knowing that she's found comfort in the most unexpected people such as Pennsatucky.
4. Spotting Sophia in the SHU.
No one was really sure when we were going to see Sophia again so I just about freaked out the second she graced my screen. However, the initial excitement of spotting one of or faves dissolves quickly when we notice how much the SHU has changed her.
5. When Maria's crew branded Piper.
As much as the general public hates Piper, it was hard to cheer this scene on. Some could argue that Piper was asking for this to happen to her, after all she did accidentally start a white supremacist group at Litchfield AND get Maria's sentence increased.
6. The threesome.
There are some things people just can't forget, despite how much they want to. With that being said, I think most fans will try their hardest to repress the memory of Judy King, Yoga Jones, and Luschek having a threesome while on Molly. *yikes*
7. Learning Crazy Eyes' backstory.
WOAH! So that is what Suzanne meant when she told Maureen that she "hurt someone." This scene also gives us the total feels for Suzanne, because she really had no idea that she was doing something so wrong.
8. The death of Poussey.
I'm pretty sure that nobody's jaw dropped lower than it did when watching this scene. How could they do this to us?! She was going to start a life with Soso (who we actually like now, thanks to Poussey). This was the worst and most important piece of season 4. Although we all took Poussey's death as a personal dig, we understand that it was done for a reason. The messages that this scene and the following scenes make regarding racism in correctional facilities as well as in all aspects of life is necessary and needs to be talked about.
9. THAT CLIFF HANGER.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that we ALL wanted Daya to kill CO Humphrey, but alas... we must wait another year.
10. The last 30 seconds that killed us all.
And you thought you were done crying, right? WRONG. They had to get us with that last scene of our beautiful, beloved Poussey. This is our little painful reminder that despite how much we hope and pray, she will not be returning next season.
We only have another year guys, we can make it!
