Where The River And Lake Become One
Taking a walk along this Michigan State Park Pier located slightly south of town.

Nestled soundly within the town of Oscoda lies the Ausable River. This waterway is the main flow of money into the local economy every summer. Multiple canoe, kayak, and tube rental services line the river's shore drawing in those who seek the adventure. Did you really go to Oscoda if you didn't take a day trip to float down the river? I didn't think so.
Wildlife: Right Outside Your Door

Oscoda is a bird-watchers paradise, the master-anglers dream, the four-wheeling advocate's playground, and much more. A feature the town has to offer is being nestled within the Huron National Forest. These forests are occupied by many species! Those including snakes, birds, deer, bobcats, porcupine, bald eagles, and of course these cool little lizards featured above. The forests span for miles filled with ORV and UTV trails that many visitors take for a spin at least once.

The family event center, Oscoda Beach Park. The warm sand and welcoming atmosphere encompass all who take the boardwalk along Lake Huron. A park for the kids, a charcoal grill for dad, and lots of place for mom to relax; pick your spot and take a day to relax on the beach. How could you go wrong with this attraction that is within walking distance from downtown, ice cream, and restaurants? That's right, you can't.
Steps Through History, No Literally
It's always easy going down, but good luck getting back up.

Down, down, down we go; 294 steps to the bottom. This is just one of the historical sites located slightly west of Oscoda on River Road, Iargo Springs. The town's history is formed around the logging industry and this is a cool roadside park where you can take the family for free!
Headed South
Tawas Point Lighthouse

Based about 25 minutes south of Oscoda lies Tawas City and East Tawas. An expansive town running along Lake Huron has many stores, dining options, and places to explore. Home of two State Campgrounds, an endless number of lakefront hotels and cottages, this too is a great place to stay along the lake and a nice day trip away from Oscoda!
Sunrise City, Or Did I Mean Sunset?
Casting away into the depths of Lake Huron
Taken by Madeline Godfrey
Oscoda is on the sunrise side of the state, otherwise known as the east side. But who wants to wake up at 5:00 AM to go catch the sunrise over the water? I have done it a few times in the past and let me tell you there is nothing like it. The easy way to catch the sun is at the end of the day, however. Partaking in the 'at dusk fishing' you can catch the sunset from this Michigan State Park Pier and might catch a fish as well. There is nothing like a Northern Michigan sunrise, so what are you waiting for? Head north to Oscoda, Michigan, I promise it won't disappoint you!
