At one time or another, majority of college students have taken the Myers-Briggs test for personality to see which of the 16 personality types the fall under. The Myers-Briggs personality test uses a series of questions to determine where a person's personality falls on a spectrum for each of the four areas (extroversion or introversion, intuitive or sensing, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving). Once a person has answered all of the questions they are given a four letter identifier which correlates to a specifice personality type, such as ESFP or INTJ. Just as each personality type represents a different type of person, each university in North Carolina has its own specific personality. You may not agree with me, but that's ok because sometimes people can fluctuate through multiple of the personality types.
1. UNC-Chapel Hill: ENFJ
ENFJ people can also be referred to as the "Protagonist" personality. They are charismatic leaders who know how to keep an audience on their toes. UNC is known for their academic and athletic prowess and are not afraid to let you know it either. Carolina students stop at nothing to achieve their goals and for good reason. Students come out of Carolina ready to take on anything that comes their way.
2. NC State: ISFJ
ISFJs are also know as the "Defenders". This personality type suits NC State because no matter how bad of a season their sports teams are having State defends their teams without any sign of relenting. Now this isn't a bad thing, it's pretty admirable actually. I mean you've gotta stand your ground if you're trying to be rivals with the other two Tobacco Road schools, UNC and Duke.
3. Duke: ISTJ
Ah ISTJs, or better known as the "Logistician" of the different personality types. As much as I hate to admit it, you can't deny Duke is a powerhouse in both basketball and academics. They also won't let you forget this either, sometimes to the point where they can come off as pretentious or cocky. The truth is though is that they're just stating facts because they are a truly talented school in numerous areas.
4. ECU: ESFP
ECU does not receive the ESFP, or "Entertainer", personality type solely because of their notorious stereotype of loving to party and having a good time. In general, ECU is a vibrant campus that promises a new adventure around every corner. Plus, going to a Pirate football game is another experience and is the epitome of the word energetic.
5. Wake Forest: ENTJ
ENTJ personality types are known as the "Commander" and are ready to take on any challenge they face. On occasion people tend to forget how fantastic of a school Wake Forest is, but trust me they're one of the best. The Decs are intelligent and strong willed people that make challenges look like a walk in the park.
6. Appalachian : ISFP
App State is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of North Carolina, so it's only fitting that they get the "Adventurer" personality type. Appp is known for its laid back, free spirited style where people are always down for a spontaneous road trip or hiking excursion. They're the ones who are ready to take on the world and never regret it for a second.
7. UNCW: ENFP
ENFPs can also be deemed the "Campaigners". UNCW is situated an excruciatingly long five minutes from the beach so it's only natural that they're care free, free spirited people. I mean how could you not smile if you could go watch the sunset at the beach every day? UNCW is also a fairly small campus meaning there's a greater chance to be more social because you don't get lost in the crowd as easily.
8. Western Carolina: INFP
The INFP personality type, or the "Mediator" suits Western Carolina just about perfectly. The people on this campus are pretty laid back and chill, always looking for ways to help others. They have the potential to be the biggest change in the world. They look, and find, the good in life and every situation they face. Overall, how could you not just fall in love with them?
