No Sleep Finals Week

That dreaded week for every college kid.

It's that time of the semester again, where all the information you've learned for the past three months is tested and you better remember every dang thing or you won't pass the finals and you'll have to take the class all over again. Which you REALLY don't want to do because that means lost money and lost time. So you spend the week after Thanksgiving stressing and studying after a week of rest and peace. Usually, I try to keep high grades in my classes because I know by the time I get to finals I will have no energy to study for them and I don't really want to stress out about whether I'll be passing the class or not even though I generally always get good grades.

Finals week is also stressful for overachievers because while everybody is just trying to get a C or a B, we're aiming for that A and everybody hates you for it. Especially if you can get away with a F on the final and still pass the class. However, this semester won't be that easy for me. In all likelihood, I'll be studying all of the weekend and I'll keep the marathon going on until Wednesday when my last final is. After Wednesday I'm 100 percent sure I'll spend all my time that I'm not at work trying to catch up on all the sleep I've lost these past three months. In fact, by the time y'all are reading this finals will be over and I'm sure I'll be sleeping.

To all you high school kids out there I'm not writing this for you because you don't even realize how easy your finals are. Your teachers go over it 200 times more than college professors do and most teachers walk you through exactly what's on the test. So buckle up buttercup because if finals in high school are hard for you, you better start stepping up for college because college professors don't care if you pass the final or not. It's extra money for them next semester if you have to retake it where in high school if you don't pass it reflects badly on your high school teacher and they really want to keep their jobs.

So I'm sending out a prayer to all my fellow college kids this next week may the coffee and caffeine keep you strong. Plus some sleep would be nice so you don't get the nasty test brain and forget everything you've been studying for the last week. I know we can all pull through this and pass our classes and then take a month off just to get ready for it all over again. Wear your most comfortable pajamas and rock finals week because this is the last week to show that you were actually paying attention during class and not just taking naps.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
