For those of you who have been able to maintain perfectly smooth legs for the past 11 months, I will never understand how you do it. Luckily for the next month, I don’t have to! No Shave November starts now!
Growing up I was surrounded by those who thought it was strange for women to participate in No Shave November because, “ew”, but as I’ve gotten older the relevance of those opinions have decreased immensely. Now, before you start judging me and calling me Sasquatch, just please hear me out. These are three reasons why I am not a Sasquatch.
1. We’ll start off with the obvious; I’m lazy, and it’s way less work.
Do you realize how much work it is to shave your legs? It may not take too terribly long, but if you don’t do it just right, or at the correct pace, or even apply the correct amount of pressure, you could get stuck with random patches of hair on your legs that may not be too obviously noticeable to others but definitely noticeable to you when you are later rubbing what you thought were those damn smooth legs of yours. Talk about frustrating.
2. It’s warmer.
It can get really cold in November. Yes, December, January, and February are way colder, but the temperature in those months are always cold, and stay around similar temperatures, whereas in November, there is almost always an overwhelming drop within a shorter period of time. According to weatherspark.com, the month of November is known as the month where daily high temperatures drop rapidly. Daily highs decrease from 47 degrees Fahrenheit (F) to 27 degrees F, exceeding 61 degrees F or dropping below 13 degrees F only one day in ten. Although the hair on a woman’s legs doesn’t normally get too terribly thick before it is shaved off, it sure can create some warmth.
3. It’s my choice.
When it is cold outside, leggings and sweatpants (but mostly leggings) are my main choice of leg-ware. The only time I could imagine myself wearing anything exposing my legs would be if I wore shorts to bed. The most common excuse I hear from my fellow female friends about shaving is that they “don’t have anyone to impress." I have a boyfriend but I am firm believer in the fact that I can impress him in more ways than just having smooth legs. Fellas, if you draw the line at some hair on her legs, I’m just gonna leave you with my wishing you good luck in your endeavors. Girls are more than just the smoothness of their legs, and looks in general. Even if a gal doesn’t shave her legs one day in November and decides to wear a cute skirt, and you think it’s oh-so-disgusting looking, I have a very simple solution: Don’t look.
So this November will be filled with a mixture of people working some awesome facial hair, others who look a tad uneven, and also people who are rocking some fuzzy legs. No Shave November includes no shaving, and also no judging. It’s all for a good cause; to donate the money you would use to spend on your grooming to cancer charities. So it shouldn’t matter what other people think.
It never should.
