There Are No Longer Any Safe Places In This World And Sorry Not Sorry, I'm Blaming Trump

We should be allowed to go outside and enjoy our lives without having to live in fear.

Every time we turn on the news, there always seems to be a major tragedy, weather alert or breaking news that fills us with anger and sorrow. It just seems that no place in the world is safe for us anymore. Over the past few years, months, and weeks, there have been acts of hate that have cost the lives of innocent people.

Why is it that people (no matter their race, nationality, gender, and religion) cannot go out and just enjoy life without having to be afraid for their own lives and safety of loved ones? Although we might look at malls, concerts, schools, movie theaters, and churches as locations to spend time with family and friends, they have now become dangerous places for adults, teens, and children, and it should not be this way.

It seems that no place is safe for anyone in this divided world.

We enjoy going to places to experience fun memories. Unfortunately, the world has changed for the worse. Things like skin color, political differences, and religious beliefs should not distract us from the fact that we are all human beings and should treat each other as such.

There was a report by the Washington Post that explains that although Trump has referred to the mass shooting as "pure evil," he did not officially denounce acts of hate and violence in America after the protests in Charlottesville last year where he refused to condemn the actions of white supremacists.

Donald Trump is responsible for influencing his supporters to target innocent people because of their religion. There are discussions about how Trump's words intentionally caused feelings of anti-Semitism to grow against the Jewish community.

America has a "president" who encourages violent acts, insults his critics, and refers to the media as the enemy of the people. According to the Miami Herald, no matter where people go to spend their time, it feels more like a potentially unsafe area than an entertainment venue. We should not let fear control us and need to start fighting against negative influences.

Hate crimes and violent behavior are often encouraged by a powerful and unstable cult leader.

Most often people are inclined to murder innocents after being manipulated by someone with control over them. In the 60's, Charles Manson was an infamous criminal who convinced his followers to murder. Trump is doing the same thing today. According to CNN, the Jewish community expressed concerns and feelings on social media about the attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue and discussed how the people inside (many were Holocaust survivors) were targeted based on their religion.

Despite what America's hate-filled, spineless, and thinned-skinned commander-in-chief says, we need to vote to make a difference and fight back against racism, social injustice, and religious prejudice. We need to make our voices heard. America is being run by a short-tempered reality TV star billionaire who is motivated by his hatred of Barack Obama rather than love for our nation.

Hate and discrimination will no longer be tolerated. By uniting people of all backgrounds and religions, we have a chance to bring peace to an otherwise unsafe world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
