I recently purchased a new agenda. As someone who is meticulously organized, picking out the perfect agenda is always one of the things I enjoy about a new school year. And, since I’m starting my freshman year of college, buying supplies is even more exciting.
As I was browsing through stores looking for the perfect one, I stumbled upon one that I absolutely fell in love with. The cover says “no bad days.” That simple saying holds so much power that I knew this was the agenda for the year.
I am someone who can get easily down, as I'm sure a lot of us are. If my day doesn't go exactly as planned or I run out of time to do everything in the day that I wanted, it's easy for me to get upset. It's easy for me to blame the day away and say, "I'll start fresh tomorrow," wasting a whole day because one bad thing occurred.
But, if one bad thing occurs per day for a month, or a year, you can find yourself looking back at all the potential time you have wasted just because of one small, bad moment or event that is seemingly insignificant in the larger picture.
As I move into college in two weeks and enter this new chapter of my life, I know that I need to be positive and open minded. Even though I'm extremely nervous, the worst thing I can do is to be closed off and not accepting of all the new things, good and bad, that college has to offer.
College is going to be a big change, some of which I'm extremely ready for and some of which I'm not. In this new transition in my life, I need to constantly remind myself that there will only be bad days if I let them happen. There will be hard days and difficult days, but if I keep the mindset that there are "no bad days" then I will be able to wake up every morning with the attitude it takes to make the most of every moment.
I think this attitude is something that we all need to remember. Bad things happen to us, but at the end of each day, we should always be able to find one thing that makes us laugh or smile. And if you're not able to do that at the end of each day, something needs to change.
"No bad days" is a mentality we all need to master.
"No bad days" is now the new attitude I take towards every day. If you believe there are no bad days, there will be no bad days. It's a gentle, simple reminder to make the most of everyday, whether through a small act of kindness or a day off with your best friends. Having the mindset that there are no bad days, just bad moments, will help all of us make the most of every day and have a more positive outlook on what life has to offer.
