19 Things I Learned Before 19

Now im not claiming to be all knowing but i feel like throughout my short nineteen years of life i have learned some important lessons that are worth sharing so enjoy this list of things i wish i would have always known

1: Change no matter how scary will more than likely be for the best - im a big believer that everything happens for a reason so why question it? Go with the flow and let change take it's course and happen.

2: Some people aren't meant to stay in your life forever, And that's okay! - people can come and go out of your life whether you have known them since you were six or sixteen and have it be okay. It may suck for awhile when anyone leaves your life but if they left do you really need them?

3: It's okay to admit when you're not okay - no one is strong all the time and no one has to be, its okay to cry and to have pity parties just remember even your worst days only have 24 hours

4: Always stand your ground, don't let anyone influence your morals - standing up for what you believe in is one of the most attractive qualities in a person if you don't stand for something you stand for nothing and that's not a good way to live your best life

5: It's okay to need "you" time - it's not a crime to want to be alone it's normal and necessary to spend time by yourself to keep yourself sane and in touch with yourself

6: Don't be Ashamed of anything that makes you happy - even if other people don't find happiness in what you do don't be ashamed being happy is a beautiful thing and shouldn't be hid or watered down

7: Put your mental health above any and everything - nothing matters more not grades not relationships nothing is more important than you being okay

8: Say yes to as many things as you can - you will make the best memories if you start saying yes to more things and stop making excuses for not doing things

9: Travel as much as you can - it will leave such a huge impact on your life and if your lucky you'll leave a piece of yourself everywhere you go

10: If a waiter does his or her job well they deserve a tip - a lot of waiters live off tips don't be that person who just doesn't want to spare a couple dollars

11: Don't be afraid of failure - welcome it and accept it because it's going to happen and its going to happen often and that is completely okay

12: Set goals whether it's weekly or only on new years - do your best to meet these goals you will feel accomplished when you do

13: A call will always beat a text - especially when it comes to family they would always rather hear your voice then get a text from you saying how you're doing

14: Don't under eat - It's just as unhealthy as over eating and can make you feel a lack of energy and not be able to go throughout the day feeling your best

15: Not everyone is going to like you , you're not going to like everyone - and that's perfectly okay! It's not meant to be that way so don't stress when someone doesn't like you or vice versa

16: Don't let people make you feel like your feelings are invalid - They are not your feelings are valid and you can work through them at any pace you want

17: Form your own opinions - don't let other people tell you how to feel about other people or about a new movie that just came out experience them for yourself then form an opinion

18: Learn how to accept both compliments and criticism -whether it makes you or breaks you hearing both is important in life everyone needs both

19: As said by Gandhi "You Must Be The Change You Wish To See In The World" - This is one of my all time favortie quotes and the thing i live by most in my day to day life

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
