Beach bums everywhere are in agreement that the beach is the best place to be. But why?
The beach is only defined as a pebbly or sandy shore, especially by the ocean between high-and low-water marks.
But to us beach bums, it's so much more. It’s the place where all your stress disappears. It’s the place with no end goal, where there is nothing necessary to think, do or say. It’s the time to kick back, relax and enjoy the ocean breeze.
Don’t believe it’s the best place out there? Well, here are nine reasons why we believe it is.
1. Heading Out
Whether the beach is in your backyard, down the street or a 30 minute drive there is one common factor — the excitement. You have your things packed and you already know it will be a good day.
2. Finding Your Spot
It's up to you how close you are to the water, people or the seagulls. But once you put down your towel or sheet that area is designated as your home-base and your day has just begun.
3. The Water
There is nothing like the cold, ocean water on a hot beach day. Everyone can enjoy the water, whether you want to just get your feet wet or dive right under the approaching waves.
4. Tanning
Everyone ages 15 – 35 will be determined to leave a few shades darker than when they arrived. And as an added benefit, laying out is probably the most relaxing thing on this planet.
5. The People
You’ll see people of all ages at the beach, and always run into someone you know. There will be children who make you wonder where your childhood went, a young family you aspire to be and the cute elderly couple that has been in love longer than you've lived.
6. The (Not So Great) People
Yes, there will always be that one person whose sanity you question. For instance, one time a man pitched a full sized camping tent in front of my friends and I. Even though the person with the over-sized boom-box may be annoying, you’ll have a great story to tell later on.
7. The Lifeguards
Attractive. Young. Funny. The three words that not only describes most lifeguards now, but what seems to be an ongoing stereotype for years.
8. The Boardwalk
Every beach has a different feel that is usually displayed by its boardwalk. You can walk miles before realizing to turn around - whether you're walking by upscale restaurants, overcrowded bars, or absolutely nothing.
9. The Photos
Typical. But in all seriousness you can gain an infinite amount of VSCO-worthy pictures in just one trip.
As one of the most beautiful places on Earth it's no surprise you can relate to the child you pass by when leaving. But thankfully, the beach will always be here — and you can do the whole trip over tomorrow.
