The Next Love
The Last Song

Heartbreak.

We've all been there.

You love so hard and so deep and then it's over. You think you've felt the greatest feeling you could have ever known only to have it taken away.

Maybe somebody hurt you or maybe you've hurt them. Either way you start to feel like there's no chance you could ever care that much again. That nobody will come along that makes you feel like that. You'll never find another love.

Then suddenly, you find it.

Maybe it took weeks or months, maybe even years, but it's back, and you know its real because that feeling you thought you'd never feel again? This is it, but better.

You find the person who will put every piece back together and then some. The one who makes you forget that there was ever such a thing as heart break.

It's like coming up for air after being underwater. Like a weight you never knew you carried has been lifted. Like laying down in bed after a long day.

Everything is easier; everything is right.

"Grey's Anatomy" said it best, "It always feels like there is just one person in this world to love, and then you find somebody else, and it just seems crazy that you were ever worried in the first place"

You can't remember how it felt when your heart hurt, and you don't want to. This new person makes you feel like you're flying and your feet will never touch the ground. They erase the past and begin writing a completely new future. New memories begin to replace the ones of filled with hurt.

You never think about the next one. The one who you find as soon as you stop searching for something to fill a void. As soon as you've forgotten the late night crying. When you no longer feel like you need someone, the next one comes along.

They let you listen to your favorite song in the car without changing it just because. They plan the most amazing times together, even if it's nothing fancy. Especially when it's nothing fancy.

They make you believe again. They give you faith. They let you relax into them, they form a space in your life, in your heart.

All the bad dates and all the heartbreak and all the ones before suddenly feel like they had a purpose. Like they taught you something, they showed you what you didn't need, they opened the door for this new person to walk through. They gave you another chance. They let you go and you flourished and now someone new has fallen into your heart.

And their eyes are suddenly the only eyes you can imagine yourself staring into, their voice is the only one you want to wake up hearing. It's the most incredible high you've ever felt, the new love. The fresh love. The maybe this just might last forever love.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
