My Three New Year's Resolutions

I'm ready to start the year off right

My Three New Year's Resolutions

It's that time of the (new) year when everyone starts making New Year resolutions and they usually don't end up sticking to them. Admittedly, I've never been one to make resolutions and goals at the start of the new year because I know it'll just end in me not following through and being disappointed in myself. This year, though, I thought I would try it out. It is the start of a new decade, so why not challenge myself. So here are some of my New Year resolutions.

1. Read More

I always used to be a bookworm at heart. I spent hours upon hours reading when I was younger. In grade school, I used to try and get my homework done as quickly as possible so I could start reading a book. As I've grown older, however, I found myself investing less and less time trying to read. I'd be tired from doing homework or other things in preparation for college applications. And once I got to college classwork and other distractions took over. But I want to redevelop my passion for reading and get back to what inspired me to start writing.

2. Learn Photography/Photoshop Skills

In high school, I took a digital photography class and had a lot of fun in it. I learned the basic rules of photography and got introduced with basic skills to use and understand photoshop. I never further pursued or developed what I learned from that class afterward despite my continued interest in photography. Now, I've forgotten what I've learned and I really regret. There are tons of YouTube videos and websites that can easily teach me new photography skills so I want to try and learn again.

3. Learn how to dance Bachata

I've always been impressed with the way people are able to move their body and sway their hips when dancing the bachata. I also love listening to bachata music that it only seems fitting that I actually try to learn the dance. I'm the best dancer and I often get shy and embarrassed when I make any attempts to dance, but I want to build my self-confidence in this area.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
