Truth is, there won't be a "new me" the moment 2016 turns into 2017.
Sadly, I've noticed New Year's Resolutions are frowned upon. The reason being, "If someone wanted to change so much, why hadn't they started earlier? Why wait until the New Year?" My answer is, "Well, I like a new start date."
I've loved writing in journals ever since I could pick up a pencil. With each new journal I received I'd always think, "I wonder what events are going to happen in my life that I'm going to write about in this specific journal" and it gets me beyond excited. I guess I'm the same way with the new year.
What events are going to occur in my life in this upcoming year are going to be most memorable? Which events am I going to love, and which events am I going to hate?
That's why I love the New Year. There's a new start date, the anticipation for what is to come, and leaving the previous year behind!
But that's why New Year's Eve is my absolute favorite holiday. I have the chance to reflect on the past 365 days. Do I leave the old year behind? Sure, but I take those lessons and apply them in the new year. There's no need to dwell any longer about things we wish could've been different because life goes on, everything happens for a reason, and there's too much to always look forward to in the upcoming year.
