New Years Resolutions

By: Matheus Oliveira

I'm sure by now we've all heard the phrase "new year, new me" but true change rarely ever

happens, especially around this time. The problem is that people either lack or lose the

motivation to seek out the change they so desperately wanted the day before.

Another thing that makes people give up on there new years resolutions is the fact that

they set a bigger goal than they can actually fulfill and sometimes they set too many goals that

they will never be able to keep up with. For me personally, I only have two goals for 2019. The

first one is to continue losing weight. Last year I lost 22 pounds bringing me to 148 pounds

which is the lightest I've been in over 10 years.190 being the heaviest .Seeing the number 148 on the scale is such

a huge accomplishment for me as I've struggled with my weight for almost my entire

life. My goal for this year is to lose enough weight to where I can mold my body into a

more athletic build and gain muscle mass in 2020. My second goal is to hopefully earn my blue

belt in Jiu Jitsu. This past year I've grown so much as a fighter. I've earned three stripes on my

white belt and hopefully I can earn my final stripe along with my blue belt in 2019.

These goals are both something that are not going to be easy to attain, but I am fully prepared

to put in the time and work ethic necessary to accomplish these goals and with hard work and

dedication I truly believe I can one day reach them. Happy New Years

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
