Every year, it happens. You can't escape it.
Around the end of December and the beginning of January, the Facebook posts start rolling in about how people are going to change in the new year.
How people are going to be better, eat better, live better, what have you.
I personally do not make New Year's resolutions because I think they are pointless and overrated.
You usually end up breaking them or quitting them after a couple of weeks. So why waste the energy to even make them in the first place?
There are some pretty basic resolutions:
1. I am going to start going to the gym.
Alright, you may get a gym membership, buy all these workout clothes, and go for about two weeks religiously, but odds are you are most likely going to slowly stop after that.
2. I am going to start eating healthier.
Like I stated above, you will probably quit this one pretty soon after you make it.
3. I am going to stop being so negative/cut negative people out of my life.
This seems like a good
However, when people make this resolution, they just delete people off their Facebook or stop posting negative statuses.
Being more positive and making positive changes is more than your social media.
4. I am going to stop eating fast food.
Oh, this resolution. This is probably easier than simply just "being healthier" but it is still pretty hard to do.
Cutting out fast food cold turkey, especially if you are a frequent fast food eater, is not easy, and you will usually cave on this one as well.
5. I am gong to be better with money.
As smart as this resolution is, it is also hard to stick too.
Bad spending and saving habits cannot be fixed by just a New Year's resolution. It takes much more than that.
New Year's resolutions are not bad. If you can honestly see them through, good for you!
Most of the time, however, that is not the case. I hear people vow to make these changes in their lives, and then after a couple of weeks just stop.
Instead of making these radical resolutions that you will probably quit anyways, just vow to be a better person all around.
Make little changes in your life that will inevitably make a big change and I promise you will be so much happier than making a radical resolution that will fail.
You don't need a new year to become a better person and create the life that you want.
It is an attitude adjustment and a working progress. Not just something you can vow to change instantly.
It takes time and effort to change your life, and you need to take that time in order to efficiently see the changes happen that you want.
Make a New Year's resolution to constantly work towards the life you want, and the person you want to be.
