Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends and food. There's nothing like taking a break from everything and taking time to relax and give thanks for all the wonderful things in life. But, sometimes this can get a little boring. Why not create a new family tradition this year? Here's some ideas to get the ball rolling.
1. Take a family photo shoot.
Take advantage of the entire family being together and find a nice spot for some photos. Get some props, head outside if the weather is nice, or find a cute backdrop inside. Have fun with it, these could make great Christmas cards.
2. Put up the Christmas Tree.
Why not get in the Christmas spirit early and spend time as a family putting up the tree. Once it's it up, you can enjoy it for all the weeks to come. Break out the Christmas music and hot chocolate then enjoy some family time.
4. Make a new heirloom.
Have everyone sign their names on a plain tablecloth, using a thin Sharpie marker. Be sure to date & sign each message. Bring this tablecloth out for every family gathering, adding new signatures each year. Eventually, you could pass this down as a family heirloom.
5. Create a family motto.
Come up with a “family motto” for the year. It could be one word that you stand for (honesty, integrity, loving, etc.) or a well-known phrase. Write the phrase on a colorful piece of paper, frame it and hang it where everyone can see it for a daily reminder.
These are just some ideas to do this year, but be creative. You might just find something your entire family can enjoy. This enjoyable time could eventually become a new tradition for your family to do for years to come.
