Now that the semester is coming to an end, it gives us time to reflect on the blunders of the semester. We look back and say "I am NEVER going to do that again." In all reality, you probably are going to, so it's time to reflect and come up with some resolutions we could try to obtain in the following semester.
1. Go to the Gym
As college students, we all procrastinate on our heath. I know the gym is the last thing on my mind most days. But it is important to try to burn those extra calories a couple times a week. Plus it's a great stress reliever & it's good for you! Two birds with one stone!
2. Eat Well
Part of college is the late night food runs for all the greasy, tasty fast food. My personal favorite is Mad Mush while pulling an all-nighter. However, too many of those late night food binges can add up. I know my jeans felt it my freshman year. It is important to try to have a balanced diet because from my experience, if you eat good, you feel good. Who doesn't like to feel good?
3. Go to EVERY Class
Now this one is what I struggle with, especially at this point in the semester. I know that professors give so many skips a semester before it affects your grade, but skipping already affects your grade. Just being in lecture makes it so much easier to learn and if your learning then you'll do better on the tests. Now that I am studying for finals, I regret every skipped class.
3. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE
It's pretty straight forward, if I do say so myself. Procrastinating is the biggest mistake I have made in my college career because it causes so much more stress.
4. Be More OCD about my Planner
At the beginning of the semester I was super OCD with my planner. Every class/organization had a specific color and the importance had a highlight. Now, I'm lucky to write the due date to something on my hand. College is full of deadlines, due dates, and a million other important dates. It cuts down on stress when you stay on top of everything.
5. Take Better Care of Yourself
For me this includes brushing my hair at least once a week. I have discovered that if you put effort into yourself, it makes you feel better. Whether your thing is tanning, working out (there it is again), or just wearing a clean shirt, take some time for yourself, you won't regret it.
6. Save Money
The dirty word in college: saving. It is so easy to spend, spend, spend in college, but nobody is worried about the future and how they are going to pay for it. Now that I am halfway through my college career, I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Too bad it's not just life after college, but also comes with looming debts and other adult responsibilities. I guess it's time to start saving a few dollars here and there and make every penny count. It's time to find the will power and pass on a new pair of shoes. $70+ extra in a savings account sounds better anyways.
This is just a start of what direction I want to head in next semester. Hopefully, I'll stick to them, but who keeps resolutions anymore? Time to go into Fall 2016 swinging. But before we skip too far ahead, let's enjoy the summer and take the time to prepare for the fall.
