NEW MUSIC VIDEO FROM BASELINE
PC: Alaina Nevarez- Posted On Baseline's Instagram

I have never been one to follow local bands... Until my brother's band, Baseline, started playing at different venues, including the Marquee in Tempe, Arizona. After attending a few shows, I really started to appreciate not only the hard work my brother and his bandmates put in, but other bands as well. For so long, I refused to listen to any music that wasn't playing on the radio 24/7. It is one of those things you don't realize you were ever missing out on because you never took the time to appreciate it in the first place.

After months and months of practicing in our garage, Baseline wanted to take their music to the next level. Throughout 2016, things began to really take off for them. As soon as January 16th, they were able to put out their first song, "Fragments." Within a month or so, they had played at their first venue, and shortly after that released their second song, "Last Year's Tragedy."

Eventually, the opportunity to record their first EP presented itself in the summer. After countless hours in the studio, they released the EP titled "Not In the World, But Inside My Head," which contains five catchy songs guaranteed to have you listening on repeat. This resulted in an incredible release show packed with friends, family and a rapidly growing fan base. They also began to sell merchandise to people not just around Arizona, but across the United States. It didn't just stop at the borders though... Soon, their Twitter feed began filling up with tweets from people as far as Australia!

Now, 2017 is officially underway. If all of that is possible in one year, one can only imagine where Baseline is heading within the next year.

The most exciting news is they recently released their new music video, "Short Straw." The video features the acoustic version of the song "Short Straw," which is now available to listen to on Spotify, Apple music, iTunes, Amazon and Groove music. They wanted to start the New Year off with a bang and they did just that!

It is not every day you get to watch someone's dream turn in to a reality. Like all good things, the progress Baseline has made has taken time; but, slowly and surely, they are making a name for themselves. It is crazy what can happen with a little bit of hard work and determination. Like Walt Disney said, "all our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."

Curious to learn more about Baseline? The good news is, you can always follow them on Instagram and Twitter.

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
