A New School Year Is A New Chapter

It's so amazing to me how fast time flies. A year ago, I was anxiously awaiting who I would become friends with and where I would find my niche. From living independently to figuring out a meal plan, freshman year was a lot to take in last year. At times, it kinda felt like I was drinking out of a fire hydrant.

This year though, leaving for school was different. It was nice knowing that making new friends this school is a great blessing, but I am not coming to school knowing barely anyone like the year prior. Driving up to one of my favorite cities to be in was definitely a highlight of coming back for school.

From reuniting with friends to moving into a cute new house, life has been quite remarkable. It's not as nerve-wracking knowing that college is doable and that finding a new normal is possible. After a long summer of not being in College Station, it is fun to come back and remember how much this place has changed me and become a huge part of who I am.

With new adventures ahead for this school year, the ideas of what is to come are exhilarating. It is exciting to be on a pathway to the future with big plans and large dreams. If you are like me, it is easy to get carried away in thoughts about what the future will be like, and beginning this school year is another chapter of the book being revealed. Only The Lord knows what is to come, but pondering is amazing.

Being deep in thought about sophomore year of college has led to lots of anticipation. It is the brink of new stories to tell and new memories to laugh about. It is the beginning of learning more about myself and how to love other people. It is the start of delving deep into new attributes of God's character. It is the culmination of getting out of my comfort zone spiritually and diving head first into God's Word.

It's as if a new chapter is about to be written and merely the title is scripted across the page. This title is unknown to the characters, yet the author is well aware of what this new season is to bring. The Lord reveals things in His timing, and He is the perfect author that orchestrates so many beautiful things.

It amazes me how He can even take difficult pages of the story and them into something more beautiful than we could ever imagine.

This chapter book is full of adventures, life-lessons, new characters and faithful old ones. It's the story of redemption. It's the story of Jesus coming into my life and radically changing it from the inside out. It's a personal encounter of the power of the Gospel.

This school year is more than just words on a page, but it's a story of unfolding grace.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
