11 Reasons That Every Girl Needs A Boy Best Friend As Their Resolution This New Year

I wouldn't say that I'm extremely popular, nor would I say I have a TON of friends (outside of my family). But, that's all good with me. I like to keep my circle small. A few girls that I know I can truly count on, as well as a couple of guys that have always had my back. But, there is one person in particular that I believe every girl should have, my best guy friend.

No, we've never dated. No, we'll probably not ever date. But, do we have a pact that we'll get married if we don't find someone by 32? We certainly do. Do I love him unconditionally? Always.

Every girl needs a boy best friend. They need someone who they don't have to have more than a friendship with; someone who they don't have to worry about making moves on them. Someone who will protect them no matter what, someone to give them a hard time, but support them in every way.

Having a boy best friend is a necessity for a girl, and here are 11 reasons to prove my point.

1. He isn't dramatic

We, as women, are incredibly dramatic and I wouldn't change that for the world. But, having a guy best friend to contrast your drama with his calmness, that's fantastic.

2. He'll let you in on all of the "guy code secrets"

This is one of my favorites. I LOVE getting the inside scoop of how guys think and act.

3. The support is endless

4. He makes you laugh

5. No obligations other than to be a good friend

6. He'll support you and your boyfriend

He won't try and "steal you away," he's just happy that you're happy. And if you're lucky, maybe they'll even become best friends!

7. He will also beat the snot out of him if he screws up

It's really his biggest and most important job.

8. He knows how to make you feel better

It's nice being able to rant to your girl friends, but he'll be ready to take you out shopping for ice-cream if need be.

9. He'll tell you when you're wrong

This one isn't my favorite...but it is rather important.

10. Marriage pacts

This is my personal favorite. Who wouldn't want a back up marriage plan?

11. He is the Jim to your Pam

I know what you're thinking, "They are definitely more than friends!" But, they did start out as best friends, sending each other high fives across the reception desk. Your boy best friend will be the Jim to your Pam, someone to keep you straight and to keep you grounded in all the chaos.

Boy best friends are literally the best. I can speak from experience, they truly do make your life much easier and who doesn't want that?

Having someone to make things less complicated, less dramatic, and support you in all that you do is life changing. Every girl has their girl besties, but a guy who only wants to be your friend is something very important.

And to my boy best friend:

You have been a huge part of my life. Somehow, some way our paths were meant to cross and I'm certainly glad they did. I don't know what I would do without you by my side, pushing me to be the best that I can be, but also being able to manage my dramatic self.

While you do wish to remain anonymous, you know who you are and I hope this puts a smile on your face and helps you start out the new year great.

Love,

Your favorite little psychopath.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
