Whether you are starting another year of High School or College, a new year can have many different emotions. Happy, scared, nervous, and excited or even all of those mixed into one feeling, it is normal. When your time comes around for college, how will you spend your time?
For me, I am in my second year of college and I am loving every minute. Although, starting out in my first year, I was incredibly nervous. It was my first time ever being away from my parents and brothers for so long. If I am going to be honest, even though I was nervous, I was on a new journey and in this new season of my life. It was a time for me to learn how to be independent and live my faith out by myself.
My first year had its ups and downs, but when does God not throw crazy circumstances your way? I had made so many great friends and after my first few days of school at Dallas Baptist University, I knew that this would be my home away from home.
Here I am, almost six weeks into my sophomore year, and I have had nothing but fun hanging out with some great friends. I have two new roommates who stay up with me and we laugh until our stomachs hurt.
College is not much different than high school. Yes, you do have more independence and freedom so that is something that should be taken into consideration. You will no longer have set schedules for when your classes end because sometimes they will end early or they will be cancelled. Also, for lunch times, you have to find a time to sit down and eat in between classes or with friends.
The thing about college is that most everyone who is there, wants to be there. They want to say they have a college degree and they want a future where they can make something of themselves. One thing that I have enjoyed about being on my own is being able to be independent, though, that does mean staying responsible with how you handle situations, it also means that you get to finally find out who you are meant to be.
Every new beginning means you can have a fresh start.
