In a world surrounded and cultured by looks and popularity, finding close female friends with no sense of competition can be difficult. Many women will use apps such as Tinder and OkCupid and try to multipurpose these as both a way of finding friends, as well as strong relationships. Luckily, two girls, Olivia June Poole and Jen Aprahamian, developed an app for just the purpose of helping women find friends, and it’s amazing!

Hey!VINA is a new app that was recently released in San Francisco on January 26, that’s main purpose, as the two girls say, is to “drive a philosophy of community over competitions among women.” Users will go through a small quiz when first signing into the app, that allows the app to match the user with other girls who responses and answers where alike. With the same format as Tinder, you just swipe away to find your matches!

The great thing about this is app is that it promotes the matched girls to get together in person and hang out. With every match, a Ditto! message appears, allowing you to know who you’ve matched with and will give you things to do or places to hang out that are conveniently placed. This feature makes it easier for the two girls to figure out what they should do on their first time hanging out or meeting.

The creators of this app believe it is imperative and necessary to have a group of female friends that can be cultivated and grown throughout the years. Poole says that she hopes “women find their new best friends, traveling partners, brunch dates, wing girls, mommy friends, workout partners, etc. on the platform.”

With a conversation over wine starting the project and series of interviews to find out what the app needed, the app was decided on and created. It still has some minor flaws that need to be worked out, but the app is exciting, new, fun and connects girls to start and create bonds and friendships that will last.

This app will hopefully cut out female competition and help women realize the need to unite and come together as a group of individuals. I, personally, can’t wait to meet woman in my area and begin bonding with females like me. It can be difficult just “going out and meeting someone” and I believe this app will help connect girls with similar interests. Now all you have to do is start swiping!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
