They say never meet your hero because they won't live up to your expectations, or they'll be stuck up and rude, or it just won't be what you think it is. But coming from some one who has met their idol, the reason I wish I hadn't is because nothing will ever live up to that moment again for me.
I waited four and a half years to meet my hero. Two years ago I had an opportunity to meet him but it fell through and I was devastated. A bunch of my followers on instagram had tagged him in the post I made crying about it and he commented promising me next time he was in a show I could come and see that and meet him then.
I never thought I'd actually get to.
So finally he announced he was going to be in another show and I was scared I'd never get to see it and never get to meet him, but luckily thanks to some amazing friends, I got the opportunity to go to New York and see him in person, from the front row.
It was an experience I'll never ever forget getting to meet him after the show. I cried, and was probably super embarassing, but I got two hugs from him and he was the biggest sweetheart to me. I was terrified it wouldn't be what I had imagined it to be and honestly it wasn't. It was even greater, because it was actually happening.
If you have the opportunity to meet your idol I say do it, because it's an opportunity you may never have again. So what if it isn't what you think it will be? YOU GOT TO MEET YOUR IDOL THE PERSON YOU LOOK UP MOST TO IN THE WORLD! The things they say to you could change you forever, and who knows maybe what you say to them will change them forever to.
So here's to our heroes, the ones who touch our lives, save our lives, and make us smile. And here's to getting to meet them, and letting them change our lives.
