You just spent your weekend tailgating at an IU football game. Maybe an out-of-town guest came to visit you for the weekend just to see how our tailgates compare to theirs. Well, I have the answer for them: your school's tailgates don't even come close to ours.
At a lot of colleges, students usually attend the football games after a rather chill tailgate. But for us, it's a whole different story. If you spent your latest Saturday tailgating, then you started off the morning bright and early, ready to go. But here's the twist. You're not getting decked out in IU gear for the football game. Rather, you are more prepared to get your game face on for the tailgate that happens beforehand.
Be prepared to spend all day on the tailgating fields dancing to pump-up music in the scorching sun. Even if it's not sunny that one tailgate, you should still be ready to party on the fields. After all, rain or shine, it's tailgate time!
Once you have your fun at the tailgate and do your thang, you will probably go back home, eat some delicious post-tailgate snacks, then take a much needed nap. After all, game time is nap time. Some of my personal recommendations for post-tailgate snacks or meals include: Pizza X cheesy bread, Chipotle burrito bowl, mac and cheese, a sandwich from Jimmy John's or a bagel from Bloomington Bagel Company. Do you see a common denominator in all of my recommendations? Hint: most of them involve cheese.
The aftermath of a tailgate can get a little rough for some, depending on how much you consumed prior to, and during, the tailgate. Hopefully, you were smart about your intake. If not, then know your limits for next time and always be safe. Make sure that you stick with some buddies throughout the day. You don't want to wander lost on the fields in an unstable state of mind.
'Tis the season, people! Live it up at the rest of this year's tailgates, because we only have a few home games left. Let's continue showing the other Big Ten schools one of the things that we do best -- tailgating to the extreme.
