The Seven Stages Of Going Out

You never want to drink again until next weekend, that is.

The Seven Stages Of Going Out

Friday and Saturday are prime days to go out with friends and family. The work week is over and you are able to let loose and have a couple drinks. Before you know it you are border line wasted and almost at the I am never getting drinking again wasted. It is a vicious circle that unfortunately sometimes we fall to- getting drunk and getting too drunk. Here is how the cycle works:

1. Getting Ready

It is about that time to start getting ready to go out. Clothes are all over the floor because that purple blouse didn't go with the wedges you wanted to wear, and you have to wear the wedges because they match the nude purse. A haze of hairspray lingers in the bathroom, and the contents of your make-up bag are dispersed all over the counter. Your friends start blowing up your phone asking where you are at because they are waiting for you at their apartment. No time to clean up! One last look in the mirror and you are out the door. You look good.

2. Meeting Up With Friends

You meet up with your friends and are now super excited to go out. You check your outfit against theirs to make sure you do not look ridiculous and to make sure everyone approves of what you are wearing. Occasionally you don't end up liking what you originally had on, so you have to change (for the 103rd time). One LAST glance in the mirror, and out you all go.

3. Pre-Game

Now you arrive at another friend's apartment who is having the pre-bar get-together. You start playing some games and taking advantage of the free (or somewhat free) alcohol before you have to start paying for drinks at the bar.

4. Bar Scene, Dancing Queen

The bar is packed and filled with all your favorite people. You are singing along to throwback songs while dragging your friends out on the beer-coated "dance floor" in the back of the bar. You take shots of Fireball and another shot of this and another sip of that. You are feeling good and dancing the night away.

5. Hunger

The bar is closed, and you are hungrier than you have ever been. You stumble into a really bad pizza joint down the street or order a burger off the dollar menu from McDonalds because that is all the money you have left. You and your friends are still loving life and singing while the employees look at you with disgust.

6. Getting In Bed

You finally make it into bed, whether it be yours or your friend's. You are so happy, you faceplant the moment you see the fluffy blankets and pillows. You are too tired to change into pajamas and get in bed as is. That is when the spins hits you. The room is spinning and the bed is spinning and it won't stop. That rum and Coke probably did not mix well with the beer and tequila.

7. Hangin'

You wake up smelling like stale beer and instantly feel the pounding in your head. You rush to get water and Advil to help ease the pain. The burger from last night is making your stomach uneasy and your apartment is still a mess. Trying to eat is not an option because your stomach cannot handle it and you will puke everywhere. You are hungry, tired, and alone. There is nothing left to do but crawl back in bed and wait for the hangover to pass – and of course the vow "I am never drinking again!" will surely cross your mind.

You swear that you are never going to drink again for as long as you live until Friday rolls around and your friends want to do it all over again. Why not?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
