The 4 Classic Netflix Shows To Watch Before The New Year

We are fast approaching thanksgiving and Christmas break and that means ample time to binge watch Netflix. Here are some of my favorites and why you should start watching them now!

"Gossip Girl." This one is pretty much for teenage girl. In case you have been living under a rock, I will give a brief explanation of this series. There are six seasons of perfection. It focuses on a private school in the upper east side of New York and their various teenage issues. Sex, drinking and mommy / daddy problems. They've got all the problems you can image and you're bound to relate to someone. I personally watched them over Christmas break my senior year in high school start to finish in two weeks. It was kind of a bad addiction, but so worth every minute of it.

"Vampire Diaries." Please look at this with an open mind. The "Twilight" series gave vampires a bad name. I can promise you, "Vampire Diaries" is so much better than the typical vampires of the recent craze. It's a small town being taken over by the local vamps. Over the seasons love triangles form, humans turn into vampires, and of course people die. The show is always taking twists and turns, and of course it helps that the two main male characters are super attractive! The series hasn't ended yet so seasons 1-6 are on Netflix and the seventh season is currently on cable. It's a series I started over the summer and quickly became attached to!

"One Tree Hill." This is a show that I have been told for years that I need to watch. I always found other things to watch instead, but about a month ago I finally started "One Tree Hill." I am only on the second season, but I am already very attached to all of the characters. I have heard by the end of season two my heart will break, but I am unsure why. This show is about two brothers who are the same age, but the dad disowned one of them. One is a mega high school basketball star and the other stranded brother takes up basketball at the same school. It creates a huge rivalry between the two brothers who are playing on the same team. The show is about these two brothers, their friends at school and their parents. Again, another show with some crazy love triangles.

" Grey's Anatomy." This is my all time favorite show...ever! I have watched this show weekly since I was in the third grade. I have rewatched it on Netflix twice and joke that I am married to Patrick Dempsey. You know there's that one celeb you would marry in a heart-beat? Mine is Patrick Dempsey. Mainly because of his character in "Grey's Anatomy." The show starts out with the interns fresh out of medical school. There are many dynamic relationships throughout the show -- mainly via hook ups between attending and interns. This show contains interns that break laws, make mistakes that end in patient deaths, board meetings, plane crashes and bombs in the hospital. Anything you could possibly imagine could happen and wreak havoc on a group of people has probably happened to the characters of "Grey's Anatomy." It has been a great 12 seasons so far and I can't imagine how I will live my life once the show stops airing! If there was one show on the list that I said you must watch, this is it!

Hopefully you will find something new in this list to watch -- or binge watch -- before the new year! Maybe you will fall in love with the characters of these shows in the way that I have! Happy viewing!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
