When finals come to an end, we crave that one month break. Home-cooked meals. Being surrounded by family. Enjoying the holidays. Having no homework. However once the first couple of days slip by, we realize break is VERY low-key. Social media is boring. Going out at local bars gets old. Some of us have no money coming in. So what do we do? We Netflix. And Netflix. And Netflix. Sometimes, we do not know what to do once a show has come to an end. Or the show just does not match our mood. So here are my suggestions for winter break.
1. Friends
A group of 20 something-year-olds who live right in Manhattan. Spending their days in a coffee shop, the gang goes through comical situations. This 10 season show will have you laughing, crying, and questioning why you're friends aren't this awesome.
2. Grey's Anatomy
Are you looking for intensity? Something that "hits you in the feels"? This show will have you balling your eyes out. While these intern surgeons try to figure out saving others, they also try figuring themselves out. You will be hooked episode 1. This show is a commitment.
3. 90210
A girl moves to Beverly Hills and gets thrown into the high school fire. Every corny dramatic situation will occur in this show. It's like Degrassi, but way better. 90210 has diverse characters who aren't afraid to "go there".
4. Gossip Girl
Hello, Upper East Siders. These high-class high schoolers will show you the lifestyle of living rich. The parties, the drama, the love triangles, and the secrets will keep you clicking towards the next episode.
5. How I Met Your Mother
So you liked Friends, then you will love HIMYM. Ted tells his children how he met their mother, but the story is never ending. As he brings us through his journey with stories that will keep you laughing, you won't be able to stop wondering, "Who the heck is the mother?!"
6. One Tree Hill
A small town high school with lots of drama through relationships, friendships, and sports will keep you clicking the "next episode" button with tears in your eyes. You will be able to connect with every character in a different way that will inspire you and make you feel like you need to appreciate all the moments in your life that lead up to where you are now.
7. White Collar
A big name criminal with the mind of a genius works side by side with the police to help them hunt down other criminals. You'll be amazed by the connections that are made within these investigations. Also, Matt Damon is gorgeous. Unfortunately does not swing our way ladies...but still gorgeous.
8. Once Upon A Time
It is Disney for adults! When the evil witch casts a spell on the town, all of the characters cannot remember who they are. The town depends on a woman, who has a strong connection to these magical characters, to save them all.
9. Jane The Virgin
Mocking Spanish telenovelas, this show will have you laughing all day long. When a virgin gets accidentally inseminated with a wealthy man's child, she has to change her entire lower class ways. She goes back and forth between her new life and old life with a bunch of twists in between.
10. Unbreakable
This Netflix original is a quick show that can take a week to finish...if you're dedicated. A "mole woman" is finally discovered and struggles to fit in in the 21st century. With her comical ways, you will be so thrown back by her actions that you will be forced to laugh. And there are rumors of a Season 2.
11. Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce
Finally, my new favorite. A woman and her husband get divorced, but it doesn't end there. She ruins her career as an author, discovers newly divorced friends, and has to balance the single life and the mom life. This show takes place in LA and has lots and lots of sex. Enough said.
Of course, there are a million more shows, but I am no Netflix pro...yet. Ask me in the next two weeks of break and that might change! Hope this helped. Now go pop a bag of popcorn and Netflix!
