Everyone Needs A Little Sister

Little sisters are such an interesting topic. If you're lucky enough to have one, you don't understand how those that don't can wish for a little sister all the time. I say you're lucky to have one, but those with little sisters often don't realize what they've got until it changes. I never knew how much more interesting my life was with my sister around. Now that I have moved off to college, I notice the gap that my sister used to fill. Little sisters are great for a lot of things, and here are some of the main reasons I miss my little sister.

1. Entertainment

Little sister are some of the most entertaining creatures on the planet. From silly antics to unrealistic drama, they will constantly keep you occupied and interested. Downtime and boring are not present in the vocabulary of someone that has a little sister. These lovely human beings can always ensure a lively occurrence at any random time during the day.

2. Clothes

This one applies more to the older sisters than brothers. Of the siblings pairs that I know, almost all of the younger siblings are as big as or bigger than the older sibling. With this being a trend it allows the older sister to take advantage of two closets. (Note: your closet must also be available to them or all hell will break loose.) With two closets at your fingertips, you and your sister can arrive at any party/event in style.

3. Long Talks

Long talks are sometimes a rare occurrence, but there is no telling where they will end up once they begin. It can start with a new boy and end with favorite foods or yelling. You never really know what you're going to get out of a long talk. Just commit to the beginning and see where it takes you. Sleep is for those with nothing better to do, and if your little sister wants to talk until 2:00 in the morning, try to keep up with her. You will miss those talks one day. I promise.

4. Advice Giving

Advice is something that every older sibling becomes amazing at. With all of the problems and solutions you have already discovered, your little sister will expect you to know the answers to all of her problems. Even if you haven't experienced it yet, your advice will always mean the world to her. It may be the worst thing for her to do, but she will still listen and maybe act upon anything you tell her. You don't know it yet, but the advice you're developing now will follow both of you forever. (So do you both a favor and make it useful)

5. Wing-Woman

Ah the wing-woman. A commonly used tactic in today's culture, the wing-woman aids in the pursuing of a future love interest or networking. A little sister can be an amazing wing-woman if you describe her goal and her limits. She actually wants nothing more than to see you succeed, but she may need some steering in the right direction. After setting up the limits of conversation and the goal set her loose and watch her thrive. She knows everything about you. Since birth, she has been your everyday companion and confidant. Trust her and let her schmooze before you go in and seal the deal.

Little sisters are an amazing gift from God. Whether she is your biological, adopted, half, or even metaphorical sister, she will always brighten your life in ways you will never expect. No matter what your situation is, there is a little sister out there for you. She may be helping you now without you even knowing about it. Find your little sister, and once you do, keep her close. You'll need her someday.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
